STAYING SHARP AS WITH COVID-19
Helping people stay safe and sharp as during Covid-19, is our main priority.
Our main concern is cross contamination from different orders, and specifically, with kitchen knives and scissors.
With our mobile service we have different procedures depending on the nature of the work. Most people who work together consider themselves in a 'workplace bubble' and cross contamination is less of an issue. Check out our Mobile Service for more information.
The 3 main areas we are focussed on are,
Proper Cleaning.
The purpose of cleaning is to remove any residue on the surface of the item. They may contain contaminants, and likely affect the disinfecting process.
$3 Cleaning Fee.
We only accept items that are properly cleaned. Any items needing proper cleaning prior to disinfecting will incur a Cleaning Fee of $3 per item. Heavily soiled items may incur a higher cleaning fee.
Before you bring them to us, please make sure you clean your items following the guidelines below,
Disinfecting
The purpose of disinfecting is to kill 99.9% of the bacteria on the surface. Most products will do this within 1 minute of contacting the bacteria. We use a Hospital Grade Disinfectant suitable for use on stainless steel. The product we use is as food safe as disinfectants get, and we rinse it off after the initial treatment period. You will need to wash knives and kitchen scissors before you use them.
WARNING
It is important that you wash your knives and kitchen scissors in soapy water before you use them to remove any disinfectant residue.
Cross Contamination Control
The purpose of Cross Contamination Control is to minimise the chance of contaminating disinfected items/orders once they have been sharpened. The main areas we focus on are,
Receiving items.
Cleaning and Disinfecting.
Wrapping and Returning Items
We appreciate your co-operation in helping us stay safe as while we're helping you stay sharp as.

Before you bring them to us, please make sure you clean your items following the guidelines below,
- Knives. Clean all surfaces with detergent as you usually would after using them, removing any debris, or residue. Pay particular attention to where the handle and the blade meets, as this area can have food product in it.
- Kitchen Scissors. Seperate the blades (most are quick-release), clean all surfaces with detergent as you usually would. Dry and re-assemble.
- Scissors. Fabric, Hairdressing, and Household. Wipe clean removing any debris and residue. It is not required or desirable for you to seperate the shears, we need to test cut them as the are before we sharpen them.
- Garden Tools. Remove all loose debris. We process these on different belts or machines, we consider these low risk items and are more concerned with disinfecting the handles. If the tool has a removable blade, i.e. chainsaws, please only bring the blade. Secateurs, Loppers and Hedge clippers need to remain assembled.
- Workshop Tools. Please only bring the blade if possible. Remove any loose debris, grease and grime. We consider these low risk items that could need degreasing before disinfecting.

- All Fabric, Hair and Household scissors will be sprayed with Isopropyl Alcohol and let dry.
